Richard Glassman is the senior shareholder of Glassman Edwards Wade and Wyatt, P.C., with a substantial portion of his practice related to the trial areas of professional, legal, accounting, dental, real estate, medical, nursing, and transportation law. He is a Certified Civil Trial Specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization Tennessee Supreme Court and National Board of Legal Specialty Certification.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, November 11, 1946, and a graduate of East High School in 1964, Memphis State University, undergraduate and law degree, 1969 and 1972 respectively, post-graduate trial strategy study at Hastings College of Law, in San Francisco, California, 1975.

Admitted to practice Tennessee Supreme Court, 1972; United States District Court, Eastern and Western divisions, Western District of Tennessee, 1972; Middle District of Tennessee, 2006; Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, 1976; United States District Court, Eastern District of Arkansas, 1980; United States District Court, Northern and Southern District of Mississippi, 1981; United States Supreme Court, 1982.

Mr. Glassman has been in years past a guest lecturer for the University of Tennessee and University of Memphis, Continuing Legal Education; University of Memphis Cecil Humphreys School of Law, Southeastern Claims Association; Memphis Claims Association; Memphis Shelby County Bar Association Continuing Legal Education and Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility while serving in the past on the United States Senate Advisory Council, and Special Judge by appointment of Senior Judge Thirtieth Judicial District Circuit Court at Memphis; Special Chancellor by appointment of Senior Chancellor, Chancery Court of Shelby County, Tennessee, member of Defense Research and Trial Lawyers Association; past Member of the Board of Directors of Shelby Residential and Vocational Services (Specialized Services for the Mentally Retarded Adult), DAE Valley Camp (summer camp for mentally and physically retarded children), Memphis and Shelby County Convention Center Board, Board of Directors of Lausanne Collegiate School, University of Memphis-College of Arts and Sciences Board of Trustees. National President and Board member of University of Memphis National Alumni Association 2002-2003. Board of Visitors member, Chairperson U. of Memphis Distinguished Alumni Awards Banquet 2002-2003. Attendee Federal/State Judicial Conference by invitation of sitting judge 2003/2004.

As a founding member of Trucking Industry Defense Association in 1993 and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates achieving the rank of Advocate along with recently being honored by Schneider National Trucking Company in Green Bay, Wisconsin with it's Partnership Award (for the 2nd occasion) in recognition of his significant contributions and overall excellence in his legal representation of Schneider; as co-presenter in Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville of the CNA Insurance Loss Prevention bi-yearly seminar for attorneys in Tennessee.

In September 1995, Mr. Glassman became an original member, and continues to serve by direct appointment of the Tennessee Supreme Court, of the Tennessee Judicial Evaluation Committee, a 12-person committee (of which four are lawyers) charged with the duty of conducting a portion of the evaluation program of all Tennessee jurist, statewide.

Mr. Glassman has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 25th anniversary edition of The Best Lawyers in America with the specialty of Legal Malpractice Law and is a member of a distinguished group of attorneys who have been listed in Best Lawyers for over ten years.

Since 1997, he has been a "Big Brother" to William Terrell through  Big Brothers/BigSisters of Greater Memphis, and has served as their fund-raising chairperson and board member.

Married to Susan Lawless-Glassman and has four children: Samantha Nichole, age 32; Lauran Elizabeth, age 24; Kathryn Bailey, age 22; and Julian Zoe, age 16.
